Notice is hereby given of a PUBLIC HEARING/REGULAR SESSION of the City Council of Wortham to be held on TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2008 6:30 P.M.  at City Hall Council Room.  All agenda items are subject to action.  The City Council reserves the right to meet in a closed session on any agenda item should the need arise and if applicable pursuant to authorization by Title 5, Chapter 551, of the Texas Government Code.

 

CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM IS PRESENT

 

INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

Public Hearing – 6:30 p.m.

 

1.                  Discuss the proposed budget and tax rate for 2008-2009.

2.                  Discuss water and garbage rate increase to take effect September 1, 2008.

 

Regular Session

 

1.       CONSENT AGENDA – All consent agenda items listed are considered to be routine by the City Council and will be enacted by one motion.  There will not be separate discussion of these items.  If discussion is desired, that item will be removed from the consent agenda and will be considered separately.

a.     Approve minutes of July 8th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 24th and 30th, 2008.

b.      Approve bills for payments in July and August 2008.

 

  1. Consider and approve Ordinance setting new water and garbage rates.

 

  1. Consider and approve Resolution authorizing budget line item amendments to the 2007-2008 operating budget.

 

  1. Consider and approve submitting for nomination Martha Stanton from the city of Groesbeck as a qualified candidate for the TML Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool Board of Trustees for Region 9.

 

  1. Consider and approve Resolution supporting the discontinuation of the diversion of transportation user reviews to non-transportation uses and the appropriation of all revenue generated from highway user fees and taxes to fund transportation projects.

 

  1. Consider and approve adopting the 2008-2009 FY budget for the City of Wortham.

 

  1. Consider and approve Ordinance adopting the tax rate for the City of Wortham for the year 2008.

 

  1. Consider and approve the Wortham Economic Development 4A and 4B 2008-2009 FY budget.

 

  1. Discuss with the Police Reserves city council policies and requirements.

 

  1. Discuss John Deer tractor repairs and costs.
